Fun, frolic and pranks mark halloween celebrations

Indore: While there were no grand Halloween celebrations in the city by members of Christian community, Halloween Day was observed by school students as fun day. Inspired from television shows and movies, parents organised small get-togethers for their children and dressed up as witches and ghosts. Youngsters organised fun parties and experimented with horror make-up. While boys tried to create spooky looks with moustache and powder, girls visited professionals for make-up.

Make-up, stories and spook

“Youngsters want to celebrate every festival and we love to experiment with looks,” makeup artist Jini Dewaliya said. She loved the challenge of Halloween and ensured that young girls looked spooky and awesome. “Halloween is an interesting way to celebrate the darker side of life,” event professional Akanksha Khandelwal said. She organised a Halloween party for her friends and family members.

“I like doing everything that is cool and Halloween is definitely cool and trending,” student Nishi Mishra said. She enjoyed spooking people around. Ranchi Sen and Saloni Sharma narrated scary stories to their friends and organised a storytelling event with make-up party.

Pranks all the way

“We love pranks every day and Halloween is a great excuse to play scary pranks,” student Shubh Kadia said. He spooked his cousins with spider webs and fake ghosts. “We organised a surprise party after college and spooked all the members,” student Divyshakti Sagar said.

Inspired from Harry Potter at EHIS

Ensuring that students do not miss out one of their favourite fests, Emerald Heights International School allowed exchange students from South Africa and the US to celebrate Halloween on campus on Wednesday. Students took inspiration from Harry Potter and dressed as characters from the popular book. With black coats, brooms and magic stick, students had fun on school premises. “We feel it is important for students to celebrate every festival and connect with every culture in order to survive in an era of globalisation,” school principal Siddharth Singh said.
