Ease of doing business Index 2019: India jumps 23 places to 77th rank in World Bank report

The world bank in a report said that India has made strides in improving prospects for business. In the World Bank's Ease of doing business Index for 2019, India rose 23 places to 77th, up from 100th in 2018 and 130th in 2017. This two-year jump is the second largest for any country on the index. The World Bank report said, 'India continued its reform agenda, implementing six reforms in the past year. India is now the region’s top-ranked economy.' India is ahead of Bhutan (81) and Sri Lanka (100), Nepal (110), the Maldives (139), Pakistan (136) and Afghanistan (167) and Bangladesh (176). India improved on six of the 10 matrics tracked by the World Bank, including obtaining credit and construction permits.
