IMFL worth Rs 40L seized from truck in Kuvadava

Rajkot: In two different raids, police seized a total of 11,192 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), worth Rs 39.8 lakh, from Kuvadava village of Rajkot taluka and Gondal of Rajkot district on early Thursday morning. One bootlegger was arrested in Gondal.
In Kuvadava village, a total of 9,624 IMFL bottles, worth Rs 28.87 lakh, were seized from a truck parked at a highway hotel on Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway.
“Two bootleggers, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, fled from the spot before the raid was carried out,” said A R Modia, inspector of Kuwadava police station, adding that they had also seized the truck and three cellphones left by the accused.
In Gondal, a total of 2,568 IMFL bottles, worth Rs 10.93 lakh, were seized from a house in Virji Park Society near Harbhole Society and a bootlegger arrested.
“The accused, identified as Arun Parmar (34), was arrested after we received a tip-off that he had hidden the liquor cache in an underground tank built in the bathroom of his house. Apart from the liquor cache, we also seized two cellphones from the accused,” said H A Jadeja, sub-inspector of Rajkot rural local crime branch.
