Valuables worth Rs 3 lakh stolen from Kharghar flat

NAVI MUMBAI: Gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 3.06 lakh was stolen from the rented flat of a senior manager of an Airoli based BPO firm. The incident occurred at Kesar Exotica society in sector 10, Kharghar between October 27 and 29.

The thieves broke into the bedroom cupboard that was left unlocked. The complainant Rohit Singh stated in his complaint that on October 27, his wife had worn gold and diamond jewellery for Karwa Chauth festival, kept them back in the bedroom cupboard but left it unlocked.


On October 29, she found the box missing from the cupboard locker. Since the complainant was in Indore. she checked everywhere along with family members but did not find the valuables. Singh said that he did not suspect a male tutor who comes over to his flat to teach his son or even their 40-year-old housemaid who resides in Kopra village.


The Kharghar police had summoned the housemaid for inquiry but she claimed innocence. The cops have recorded their statements and allowed them to go.
