Cricket Australia have not commented on the reports and a formal announcement would not be made until the board meets.

Mr Peever was voted in for a second three-year term at a meeting last week.

After the meeting The Ethics Centre's report into Cricket Australia was released revealing 'bullying' and 'arrogant' culture - placing extra pressure on the embattled chairmen.

States expressed concern the report was not released prior to the vote for Mr Peever's reappointment.

Mr Peever was reportedly the power force behind the pay dispute debacle which forced the sporting organisation to backflip.

Three players were suspended from their domestic and international duties including leadership duo Steve Smith and David Warner.

Coach Darren Lehmann also resigned.

In an interview with 7.30 on Monday, Mr Peever described the sandpaper saga as a 'hiccup'.

'We have had a hiccup in South Africa and we are taking the opportunity to learn the lessons of that so that we can make the game even stronger,' he said.
