The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has examined the projects taken up under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The Committee, under the chairmanship of YSRC MLA Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, sought information regarding benefits derived out of the land allotted to the Krishnapatnam port, on Tuesday.
The PAC questioned officials on the discrepancies in land allotment, revenue sharing and financial arrangements. They observedhuge land was allotted to ports like Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram to facilitate mortgage in the banks .
The PAC also sought to know the formula behind the allotment of land. The government irregularly permitted changes in the shareholding pattern of the development consortium in Krishnapatnam, Gangavaram and Machilipatnam ports. The deficiencies and deviations in revenue sharing and financial arrangements in the monitoring mechanism adopted by the Department of Ports in the implementation of the PPP project also came up for discussion, sources say.
