BOSTON — A Massachusetts man was arrested Wednesday morning on charges of throwing a can of beer at a duck boat during the Red Sox World Series parade, hitting one of the participants.

The Boston Globe reported that the man who was hit with the beer can was manager Alex Cora. The Boston Police Department said it couldn't confirm who the man was. He wasn’t injured.

Patrick Connolly, 19, of Sandwich, was charged of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct. Connolly was arrested on Boylston Street. Boston police said officers saw him throwing the can of beer.

According to WBZ-TV in Boston, Connolly is a student at Bryant University in Smithfield. The television station said that, according to the police report, Connolly told officers that, "I love Cora, I didn’t mean to hit him."

Reports also said a thrown can of beer slightly damaged a World Series trophy.

Additionally, another beer can thrown by a fan struck and slightly damaged the World Series trophy, according to the Associated Press.
