‘SP heeds call for non-BJP front’

The efforts of TDP national president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to bring the non-BJP parties onto a single platform seems to be yielding results with Uttar Pradesh former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav extending support during a telephone call on Tuesday. The two leaders are likely to meet very soon.

Mr. Yadav called Mr. Naidu when the latter was in Kadapa to attend the “Dharma Porata Deeksha”. Praising Mr. Naidu’s efforts, Mr. Yadav was learnt to have stressed on saving the country from ‘autocratic rule’. The SP would extend its cooperation to the TDP.

Sources in the TDP said Mr. Yadav told Mr. Naidu that the BJP was going against the federal spirit and secularism was under threat. The democratic values were being ignored for the convenience of the party in power. “You should continue the spirit until the goal is reached. With your image at national politics, you should unite the non-BJP parties. ”

The SP leader said the TDP government was laying the road for sustainable development.

Mr. Naidu explained to him about the developments in the the country. Under the pretext of Ache Din, the BJP was shielding the corrupt. The economy was on the brink of collapse. The non-performing assets rose by six times during the last four years. The value of rupee fell steeply. The farmers were in crisis . A sense of insecurity had set among the SCs and the STs. Parties with similar ideologies should unite to dislodge the BJP, he added.
