tnn | Nov 1, 2018, 04:00 ISTSurat: Four persons suffered injuries and were hospitalized following clash between two groups from different communities in Amroli on Tuesday night.
However, the police maintained that it was not a communal clash but a fight between two neighbours over throwing garbage. One of the injured person claimed that his finger was allegedly blown off in a gun fire during the clash. However, police are not sure the injury was due to firing from a gun.
“We are yet to confirm if the injury is due to gunfire. Only after investigation and medical report it will be clear that the person suffered injury due gun shot. Both the parties claim that they did not bring gun so we are investigating if a gun was used,” said a police officer at Amroli police station.
Police are yet to make any arrests in the case. “The accused involved in the incident are hospitalized and after their health improve we will arrest them. Attempts are being made to identify others who were involved in the clash,” said police.
Both groups have registered counter complaints. Police has booked people from both the groups for rioting, attempt to murder under the Indian Penal Code and under sections of the Arms Act. In complaint of Narendra alias Naren Suva (25), police booked 10 persons.
In another complaint related to the same incident police booked 13 persons on complaint lodged by Yunush Shaikh (29), resident of Madhuvan Society. Police investigation so far revealed that Shaikh and Suva live in neighbouring societies and they had developed disputes over throwing waste in a manner that created problem for others.
They had argued with each other over phone as well in past. On Tuesday night due the enmity they clashed again near Madhuvan Society and they were joined by their community members.
