Superintendent of Police (North) Rachna Singh on Wednesday gave away prizes to the winners of the painting contest organised by The Hindu Group in association with NLCIL.
The contest was held at the Petit Seminaire Primary School in Uppalam, Puducherry, with entries from Puducherry, Cuddalore and Villupuram districts in Tamil Nadu.
The topic was “Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India” on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week 2018 from October 29 to November 3.
Over 700 students from over 50 schools in Puducherry, Cuddalore and Villupuram participated in the painting, cartooning and poetry contests.
Giving shape to ideas
Students of Classes III to VI who participated in the painting contest and gave shape to their ideas on three topics — “Together Let's Make Corruption Free New India”, “Avenues of Corruption” and “Stop Corruption”.
The topics for cartoon art for students of classes VII-X were — “Corruption-free India: My country, my responsibility”, “Common Man and Corruption” and “Break the Corruption Chain”.
Poetry recitation in Tamil was conducted for students of classes VI and VIII on “Corruption-free India”, “What I will do to stop corruption?” and “Save Mother India from Corruption”. The objective was to spread social awareness against corruption among the youth.
Suresh Parambath, Assistant Professor of Bharathiyar Palkalai Koodam, selected the winning entries.
V. Arunachalam, Additional Chief Manager, Vigilance, NLCIL and Fr. Pascal Raj, Principal of Petit Seminare Higher Secondary School, were present.
Grand Bakery was the snacks partner and Petit Seminaire Primary School was the venue partner for the event. The top three prize winners in the competitions were:
