Fortune teller fails to predict own future, surrenders Rs. 1.30 crore income after IT dept conducts survey

LUDHIANA: A famous astrologer based in Sunam, near Patiala, who claims to be a India’s number one fortune teller specializing in predicting future, bringing back lost love, solving business problems and even solving visa refusal problems seems to have failed miserably in anticipating what was in store for him on Wednesday, October 31st, 2018.
As today he surrendered a sum of Rs. 1.30 crores as his undisclosed income to the income tax department after a survey was conducted on him. The astrologer’s client list includes politicians, bureaucrats, rich and the famous and people from all walks of life.

Luck ran out for this astrologer the moment a team of Income tax officials under instructions from Parneet Sachdev, principal commissioner (Patiala and Ludhiana-3) entered his office today which was swarmed by people who had come there to get their horoscopes read or seek “ upay” (Solution) for the problems in their lives. The popularity of this astrologer can be gauged from the fact that meeting with him is possible only on advance booking and he even has a rate card under which he charges Rs. 500-Rs.1100 per client according to the day.
What is even more startling is that “Pundit Ji” even offers a tatkal service under which the VIP and NRI clients who don’t want to wait for hours in the queue to meet him can get fast rack appointment by paying Rs. 2,500.
According to sources in the department team of 10 officials and equal number of policemen which were being led by additional commissioner Kultej Bains and deputy commissioner Gagan Kundra started the survey today afternoon and during the action efforts were made to ensure that clients who kept coming in large numbers don’t realize that IT survey is on as the officials wanted to check the average footfall “Pundit Ji” has daily.
In addition to this the officials conducted a in depth scrutiny of the astrologer’s available financial records and other documents which in turn led to discovery of several incriminating evidence of tax evasion by him after which he surrendered Rs. 1.30 crores as his undisclosed income to the department.
