THE Trinamool Congress leader who was shot at by miscreants in Titagarh succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital on Tuesday, sources said. Two more persons were arrested in connection with the case.
Satish Mishra was shot at by four to five assailants on Monday when he and local TMC councillor Manish Shukla were standing outside a Kali Puja pandal, an official had said. Police had already arrested two persons in connection with the case.
“Two more persons, identified as Sanjay Das and Sheikh Samir, have been arrested from Barrackpore,” said a senior police official.
Hospital sources said Mishra died due to massive bleeding. He was struck by bullets on his chest and shoulder and was critical when he was hospitalised.
Ten people have been named in the FIR which was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Mishra’s relatives.
Sources said the victim was a close aide of local TMC MLA Arjun Singh. The MLA has claimed that Satish injured himself while trying to save Shukla, who according to Singh was the main target, sources added.
