Apple iPad Pro 2018, specifications and features
The iPad Pro 2018 will be the highlight of this event. Two new iPad Pro variants with an 11-inch and 12.9-inch display are expected. The new iPads will likely run the A12 Bionic chipset, and come with Face ID support as well.
Apple is expected to get rid of the Home button and introduce Face ID on the new devices. A report on 9to5Mac highlighted that there’s a new icon within iOS 12, which reveals a more detailed view of the new iPad Pro and its design, which will be similar to the iPhone X. However, the bezels could be larger compared to the iPhones.
Face ID on iPad will work in any orientation, including landscape. Apple’s new iPad series for 2018 could also come with a Type-C USB port at the bottom, and no headphone jack. Apple is likely to end the Lightning Port for the iPad series.
Meanwhile, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also predicted that an iPad Mini could be on the way with a better processor and a lower-cost display. An Apple Pencil 2 is also being discussed for this year.
Apple’s new MacBook Air
This is another talked about device. MacBook Air has not got an upgrade for quite a while now, and rumours claim a MacBook Air 2 could be revealed. Leaks claim a new 12-inch model with a Retina Display, Intel 8th gen processor and a thinner design could be introduced.
The new MacBook Air could have just USB Type-C ports like the MacBook Pro and MacBook. Whether this will be an affordable laptop from Apple at under $1000 is unclear at the moment.
Apple iMacs and Mac Mini
The last Mac Mini launched in 2014, but this is another product which is being discussed at the event. New iMacs could also be revealed, and these are more likely. Four new Mac models were spotted on a regulatory filing on the Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) website, which shows Apple is working on updating this lineup.
Apple could introduce AirPods 2 during the event.
Apple AirPods 2, AirPower
Apple’s AirPods are best-sellers in the wireless earphones market. Reports are also talking of a second generation of AirPods, which could include noise cancelling and water resistance. Some reports have also claimed the new AirPods 2 will have a heart rate sensor, which would be interesting.

Finally, there’s AirPower wireless charging mat, which is supposed to charge your iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch all at once. This was shown back in 2017 along with the iPhone X, but is yet to go on sale. Apple has been mum about this particular product, with reports claiming there are too many engineering difficulties with the AirPower mat and that it might even be cancelled.
Whether Apple gives a launch date for the charger will be closely watched. Meanwhile, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently has predicted that the company will launch AirPower in the fourth quarter of 2018 or the first quarter of 2019.
