
A massive fire broke out in a slum at Lalmati, opposite Bandra Fire Station on Nagardas Road in Mumbai Tuesday. According to reports, it was a level-three fire. There have been no reports of casualty, however, two women and two children were admitted to the hospital after they fainted due to the shock. At least ten water tankers, twelve fire engines and ten fire tenders were deployed to put out the blaze.
The incident took place around 11.50 am in Nargis Dutt Nagar slum in Bandra (West), PTI quoted a statement of the disaster management cell of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

“A joint team of the fire brigade, ward staffers and Mumbai Police personnel have been mobilised to douse the flames,” it added. Local MLA and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shellar were overseeing the rescue efforts. He said that prima facie the fire was a result of a cylinder blast in the slum.
The fire which was doused by the firefighters and is now under control gutten over 60 homes in the area.
