2019 COPO Camaro SEMA Show Car Previews 50th Anniversary Special Edition

Chevrolet introduced an anniversary-themed 2019 COPO Camaro at the 2018 SEMA Show as a tribute to the original 1969 model.

Celebrating 50 years of the special order drag racer, the 2019 COPO Camaro features a custom Anniversary Blue Metallic exterior color. The SEMA show car’s paint pays homage to the original Laguna Blue offered in 1969. It also previews the special color and graphics of the COPO Camaro 50th Anniversary Special Edition offered for 2019.

As before, the COPO Camaro features an exclusive front-end design that’s not shared with other production Camaro models.

The show car also packs a 50th Anniversary Engine Appearance Package that reminds of vintage Chevy performance engines. It features an orange engine block, chrome valve covers and a black high-rise intake manifold.

Customers can have the package with the naturally aspirated LSX-based 427 (7.0-liter) racing engine. The 2019 COPO Camaro’s engine lineup also includes a revised version of the supercharged, LSX-based 350 (5.7-liter) engine, now featuring a 2.65L Magnuson supercharger. A 302-cubic-inch (4.9-liter) power plant is the third choice.

Chevrolet will build only 69 2019 COPO Camaro race cars. That’s exactly the same number of 1969 COPO Camaro models built with the all-aluminum 427 ZL1 engine. Prospective buyers can register here for a chance to purchase this limited edition Chevy.

The carmaker brought back the COPO Camaro in 2012, following the debut of a COPO Camaro race car concept at the SEMA Show a year earlier. At this year’s SEMA Show, Chevrolet has also unveiled the eCOPO Camaro Concept, an electrified drag racer based on the 2019 COPO Camaro.
