Sine Nomine choral ensemble has announced the lineup for its fall concert program under the direction of John Verkuilen, newly appointed artistic director, as the 26-voice auditioned choir begins its 26th season of performing throughout the SouthCoast and Rhode Island.

Verkuilen is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and of Boston Conservatory with a concentration in choral conducting. He currently enjoys an active career in Boston as a consultant, private voice teacher, coach, vocalist, and director of several music organizations in the Boston area.

In speaking of his first program with Sine Nomine, Verkuilen said Advent Awaiting I”s an autumn’s journey toward the season of repose, patience, and adoration,” expressed through inspirational works of Tallis, Stanford, Poston and others.

Featured are such diverse works as Mass for Five Voices by well-known Renaissance composer William Byrd, to 21st century Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas, a truly beautiful work which translates “When charity and love are, God is there” and Distler’s Es ist ein Ros Entsprungen, a thought-provoking treatment of the familiar hymn Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, a press release from the choir states.

Performances will be on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Providence, Rhode Island, and on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in New Bedford.

General admission tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. Admission is $15 for seniors, and students age 12 and under are free.
