Making room for Rochester's new growth

To get him in the the city of rochester is expected to grow by at (least 16á thousand people each decade from now until 20á40.

And now á the city's committee of the whole is trying to figure out how they'll make room for the expanding population.

Live kimt news 3's brooke mckivergan is scoping out one of the neighborhoods that could see a transformatio n.

Brooke?

Katieátoday the committee of the whole talked about reázoning neighborhoods near downtown ... like the slatterly park neighborhood.

And it's all to make sure the people moving here have a place to live.xxx the city hired a consultant company to come in to rochester and look at their land development manual to see where changes may be necessary.

Reázoning in the neighborhoods around downtown may be necessary to allow higher density housing to be built... like apartment complexes.

City council member mark bilderback represents the 4th ward which encompasses most of the core downtown neighborhoods that could be up for reá zoning and reá development.

He says while this affects everyone in rochester, those who live in these neighborhoods should be especially prepared.

"if they wish to keep their home, they're fine.

What they need to find out though is to look into it to see what future developments might be because there will be people who decide they want to sell and take and run."

Bilderback tells me that if you are in a neighborhood that could be reázoned, you'll get a postcard in the mail telling you about the opportunities for public input.

Live in rochester brooke mckivergan kimt news 3./// thank you brooke.

One of those neighborhood input meetings will take place tomorrow evening at 5:30 at 125 live in rochester.///
