Advocate dies of swine flu

A 52-year-old advocate, who was undergoing treatment at Kanniyakumari Government Medical College Hospital at Asaripallam here for swine flu, died in the early hours of Tuesday.

After a sudden surge in swine flu cases in the district, 29 persons with H1N1 viral infection were admitted to the hospital, and 15 of them were discharged after they were cured of the infection.

Advocate Ravichandran of Thengampudhur, who was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday last after undergoing treatment at a private hospital for seven days, died around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

“With this, three persons have so far died of swine flu in district,” officials of the Department of Public Health said.

They further said people, who were suffering from mysterious fever, cold, cough, etc., should go to Kanniyakumari Government Medical College Hospital immediately for appropriate treatment.
