Fifty teams have been formed to arrest the man who shot dead a 20-year-old dance instructor during Valmiki Jayanti celebrations at Mandir Marg on October 25, the police said on Monday.
The accused allegedly shot Avinash Sangwan in the chest for making fun of his dance steps. Several persons were recording Avinash’s dance on their mobile phones when the incident happened. The accused was accompanied by two other men.
“We have been collecting as many mobile clips as possible to gather more evidence in the case. The police teams are visiting each and every Valmiki cluster in the city along with the photographs of the suspects. People from various Valmiki clusters had attended the event,” said a senior officer.
He said they have alerted local informers and circulated photographs of the suspects to identify them. The accused allegedly got furious after Avinash made fun of his dance but left after others intervened. However, he returned with two other men. All three started dancing when the accused suddenly shot Avinash in the chest and fled.
Avinash, who collapsed on the street, was rushed to a hospital. He was declared brought dead.
