A 38-year-old government school teacher was shot dead on Monday by two unidentified assailants in Rohini’s Bawana, the police said.
Sunita, a resident of Bawana, was shot on the chest and stomach from a close range. A passer-by rushed her to a hospital where she was declared brought dead, the police also said.
“The PCR received a call around 8 a.m. regarding the incident in Bawana. A team was rushed to the spot. However, by the they reached, the woman was already taken to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital by a passerby. She was declared brought dead there,” said DCP (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta.
Sunita had sustained three bullet injuries, two in the chest and one in the stomach, and was lying in a pool of blood before being rushed to the hospital. Her post-mortem was conducted at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital. The body was handed over to her family members later, Mr. Gupta said. He also said that the deceased was a teacher at Government Senior Secondary School Ferozepur, Haryana. She was going to school on her scooty on Monday morning when the incident happened. The two accused were on a bike. Sunita was shot near a cowshed, while she was riding towards Auchandi Border from Bawana village.
She is survived by a 16-year-old daughter, an eight-year-old son and her husband, who is a trader.
“We have procured a handwritten diary, which belonged to the deceased. She has written several details about the phase of life she was going through in the diary. It may help us in the investigation,” Mr. Gupta said. The police also said that a preliminary inquiry suggests that the motive behind the murder ispersonal enmity, as indicated by a diary. They are, however, investigating into the matter from all angles.
