CHENNAI: The DMK does not believe in surveys on what people say on political issues in Tamil Nadu, said party president M K Stalin on Monday.
Participating in a self-respect marriage in a party cadre’s family in Villupuram district, Stalin said, "Late chief minister and party chief M Karunanidhi never believed in all these surveys even if they showed advantage to the party. I am his son and I am following him. Therefore, we are not ready to believe in what the surveys say," he said.

Around 41% of respondents in a survey wanted Stalin to be the chief minister of Tamil Nadu while 10% of them backed present CM Edappadi K Palaniswami, 8% of them favoured actor Kamal Haasan and 6% supported superstar Rajinikanth.

" Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) used to believe in the party cadre and their surveys. Similarly, I want you to work for the party during elections and see that we will win in all constituencies," said Stalin.

Attacking the AIADMK government, Stalin said the present government was dependent on the Centre and was doing everything which the Centre wanted. "If I call Palaniswami in some other name, the government files a defamation case against me. Seven such cases have been filed against me so far," said Stalin.

“Though the chief minister says he is ready for face the people in 20 assembly constituencies where byelections will be held, he is not ready to hold the local body elections,” he said.

“The government accuses us of going to court in the local body elections. But we filed cases only to make SC and ST people contest in the polls," he said.
