UPSRTC bus hits bike, drags it igniting fire

LUCKNOW: A man suffered serious injuries when his bike was hit by a bus and was dragged up to 500 metres on Lohia path under Gomtinagar police station on Sunday night. As the bike was getting dragged, both vehicles caught fire.
The injured, identified as Vijay Sharma (36), a resident of Telibagh who works as a sales officer, was going to Telibagh from Neelgiri at around 11pm when a speeding Deoria-bound UPSRTC bus coming from Polytechnic crossing hit his bike in such a way that his two-wheeler got entangled in it.
Vijay started screaming while the bus continued dragging his bike. The bus had moved 500 metres till the driver realized that it had caught fire.
The bus driver fled from the spot.
Sharma was screaming and bleeding when a passerby Gaurav Mehra rushed him to Lohia hospital. He also informed police but a police team led by SHO Gomtinagar Triloki Singh reached the spot after an hour. One fire tender was pressed into action and it took half an hour to douse the fire.
Sharma, who is recuperating in Lohia hospital, suffered injury in his leg. He was wearing a helmet.
