From South Africa, Zimbabwe imports around 1,5 million litres of wine every year while close to 20 million litres are exported from South Africa into the world.
The Wines of South Africa Grand Tasting Festival was organized at the Victoria Falls Hotel on Friday and Saturday and was attended by executives in the tourism and hospitality industry and their counterparts from Zambia.
On Saturday evening, various wine manufacturers and distributors displayed their various brands with clients and guests tasting each and every bottle. Before, the winemakers had taken workers in the industry through some training to impart knowledge on wine tasting and handling among others.
So far, the winemakers have trained over 20 000 workers in the tourism and hospitality industry.
In the region, South Africa is the major wine producer competing with Spain and France and has some of the best wines, which are sought-after worldwide because of the climate in the Cape Province.
