RANCHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Laxman Gilua on Monday trained guns at the second phase of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) Sangharsh Yatra and called it a damp squib.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the state unit’s Lok Sabha election conveners, legislators and Parliamentarians, Gilua claimed that the rally was not getting response from the people.

JMM working president Hemant Soren kicked off the week long yatra from Ulihatu village in Khunti district, the birthplace of tribal revolutionary Birsa Munda, on Sunday. He is expected to tour eight assembly constituencies in Khunti, Simdega and Gumla districts, which will end at Sisai in Gumla on November 2.

Gilua also attacked the Mahagatbandhan (Grand Alliance) of JMM, Congress, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha – Prajatantrik (JVM-P) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and called it Thugbandhan (alliance of thugs). “It will also not get the support from the people in next year’s polls,” he added.

Notably, Soren, while addressing a rally in Simdega on Monday, stepped up his attack at the BJP led NDA government in Jharkhand for trying to amend the Chotanagpur and Santhal Pargana Tenancy (CNT & SPT) Acts in 2016.

The BJP on Monday claimed it has set up 25,000 booth committees across Jharkhand to oversee the preparations and campaigning for 2019 Parliamentary polls.
