Tamil Nadu govt declares 23 public holidays for 2019 (Complete List)

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Monday declared 23 public holidays, under the Negotiable Instruments Act, for state government offices and all commercial banks, including cooperative banks, for 2019.
“The government direct that all the offices under the control of the government of Tamil Nadu be closed on the dates specified in the notification and all Saturdays and Sundays in the year 2019,” chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan said in an order.
The notified public holidays shall also be applicable to all state government undertakings/corporations/boards.

Tiruvalluvar Day (January 16)
Uzhavar Thirunal (January 17)
Republic Day (January 26)
Telugu New Year (April 6)
Tamil New Year and Dr B R Ambedkar’s birthday (April 14)
Mahaveer Jayanthi (April 17)
Good Friday (April 19)
May Day (May 1).
Ramzan (June 5)
Bakrid (August 12)
Independence Day (August 15)
Krishna Jayanthi (August 23)
Vinayagar Chathurthi (September 2)
Muharram (September 10)
Gandhi Jayanthi (October 2)
Ayutha Pooja (October 10)
Vijaya Dasami (October 8)
Diwali (October 27)
Milad-un-Nabi (November 10)
Christmas (December 25).
On account of annual closing of accounts, April 1 will be a public holiday for commercial banks and cooperative banks.
