‘Let’s Vote Jaipur’ and ‘Vote Dalba Chalo Jaipur’ slogans resonated the sky of the Pink City as the enthusiastic voters took part in a Marathon organiszed by Jaipur district administration on Sunday morning.
To make the voters aware about their right of franchise for the coming Assembly elections, ‘Let’s Vote Jaipur’ Marathon was organised on JLN Marg. Large number of youth, women, elderly and even divyang (especially abled) took part in the event while giving a message in one voice on participation in the festival of democracy in the upcoming Assembly elections. The future voters, students from many schools wearing white t-shirts with the logo ‘Let’s Vote Jaipur’ also took part in the marathon.
Rajasthan chief electoral officer Anand Kumar, additional chief electoral officer Jogaram, district collector Siddharth Mahajan, Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal chairman OP Saini, commissioner of industry Samit Sharma, Jaipur Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ajaypal Lamba were among the dignitaries who flagged off the run.
Kumar, while addressing the participants, urged them to vote in the coming elections while telling them about the importance of voting. He said that the purpose of organising the ‘Let’s Vote Jaipur’ marathon was to make people conscious about voting to strengthen democracy.
While appreciating the Jaipur district administration officers for the successful event, he said that many such programmes are being organised across the state to make voters aware.
Kumar added that those whose names are missing from the electoral rolls can add their name to the voter list by November 9. “Till January 1, 2018 the people who have completed 18 years of age can add their name. This work of adding names will continue till November 9. In the Assembly elections the voters in maximum numbers reach at the booths and vote without any fear to choose their government,” he added.
