At least seven workers were injured after the scaffolding put up at one of the buildings at Runwal Garden City in Thane's Balkum area collapsed on Monday.
The incident took place at around 10:30 am when 10 people were on the third floor of the scaffolding to paint the building. “The scaffolding was meant for seven people and more people were on it, therefore, it collapsed," said Santosh Kadam, head of TMCs disaster management cell.
From past one and a half years, the scaffolding was erected at the building in Runwal city. “The building’s conveyance deed has not been done yet and the maintenance work was carried on by the builder,” said an official from Thane municipal corporation (TMC).
The building is more than four years old and has occupants, however, no society has been formed yet.
The injured workers were rushed to Thane civil hospital for the treatment and the process was underway to register a case against Runwal builders. “Among those injured, the condition of three workers is critical. We are in the process of registering a case against the builder,” said Senior police inspector KS Karpe, Kapurbawdi police station.
