Jerry Seinfeld says fellow comedian Louis C.K. may have chosen the wrong way to launch his controversial return to stand-up in the wake of his sexual misconduct scandal.
The 64-year-old comedian weighed in on C.K.'s attempted comeback after he admitted in November to masturbating in front of several women without their consent.
After stepping out of the spotlight amid the #MeToo movement, C.K. has returned sporadically to the stage in recent months in unannounced performances in New York.
C.K. failed to address his sexual misconduct in his first few stand-up appearances but opened a set in New York earlier this month by telling the crowd he had been to 'hell and back' and that he lost '$35million in an hour' during the scandal.
Many believed his return to comedy had happened too quickly.

'It's the way he did it that I think people didn't like. Some people didn't like that he's doing it at all,' Seinfeld told the New York Times when he was asked if C.K. should have waited longer to make his return.
'We know the routine: The person does something wrong. The person's humiliated. They're exiled. They suffer, we want them to suffer. We love the tumble, we love the crash and bang of the fall.
'And then we love the crawl-back. The grovel. Are you going to grovel? How long are you going to grovel? Are you going to cry?
'And people, I think, figured they had that coming with Louie - he owes us that. We, the court of public opinion, decided if he's going to come back, he'd better show a lot of pain. Because he denied them that.
When asked if C.K. should stay away from the stand-up mic, Seinfeld said: 'I can't say what he should do... If he does it wrong, he's going to suffer. And that's his deal.'
Seinfeld also touched on the fall of Roseanne Barr following her racist tweet and his former idol Bill Cosby being jailed.
He didn't defend Barr but said the speed in which her career came tumbling down may have upset some people, especially fans.

Barr was fired from her own ABC sitcom in May after posting a racist tweet.
'The thing I think that's new for people - let's take Roseanne and Cosby - is the suddenness and the precipitous fall. So much work, gone so fast,' Seinfeld said.
'We're upset at the speed of it, because it's new. I would say about Roseanne, I never saw anything that bad happen from a finger-tap on a screen. A whole career: gone.
He went on to say that her firing shocked him but was not unjustified.
'They just went: You're done. That is a new kind of moment. Usually, there's a crumbling, a crack - someone tries to get in there with some Spackle. Maybe we can rebar this, maybe we can scaffold it. That's what's more typical.
When Seinfeld was asked about Cosby being jailed given he used to consider him a hero, he said: 'Obviously I didn't know anything [about his crimes]. Do I rethink idolatry?
'I will not give up on having heroes. I know you can get hurt, but I am a hopeful person. I like to believe in people. I said to Ellen DeGeneres, humans — we have an abusive relationship with each other. We hate other people. We despise them. And then we see somebody play a beautiful piano concerto and we go, 'Oh, people are the best.' They get us right back for more abuse.'
