Nedumbassery fake currency: NIA court pronounces accused guilty

The Investigation Agency court (NIA) has sentenced one Aabid Hassan to 10 years' imprisonment in connection with the (FICN) case.

Along with imprisonment, Hassan has been directed to pay Rs 75, 000 as a penalty.

Three accused in the case- Mohammad Haneefa, and Antony Das- have been set free, while Kunjumohammadhad turned approver.

Customs officials had intercepted Hassan at the on January 26, 2013, with 1950 fake Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination. The notes, said to have been printed in Pakistan, had been arranged by Aftab Bhatki, believed to be a member of Dawood Ibrahim's gang. Bhatki is still absconding.
