Samadhi observance to conclude with mahayathi puja

Varkala: BJP national president Amit Shah inaugurated the public convention in connection with the final leg of mahasamadhi mandala mahapuja, held to mark the 90th anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi, here on Saturday.

The 41-day observance, jointly organized by SNDP Yogam and Sree Narayana Dharma Sangam, will conclude onWednesday. Union minister Smrithi Irani will inaugurate the Sivagiri Mutt post office at 10am on Monday.


Sree Narayana Dharma Sangam general secretary Sandrananda Swami said, “Yathi puja, a ritual performed after the samadhi of saints, couldn’t be completed for Guru yet. Only a prayer ceremony was organized by the disciples of Guru on the 41st day of his demise in 1928. We have invited spiritual leaders from across the country for the ‘mahayathi puja scheduled on October 31.”


Various conventions will take place on Sunday. The forenoon session on ‘Sree Narayana Guru’s Contribution to Education & Culture’will be inaugurated by public works minister G Sudhakaran. LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan will deliver the keynote address. Agriculture minister V S Sunilkumar will inaugurate the youth convention on ‘Influence of Sree Narayana Dharma on Youth’. Justice B Kemal Pasha will preside over the ceremony scheduled to begin by 3 pm. KPCC working president K Sudhakaran will present the keynote address.


Former CM Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the convention on employment at 3pm on Monday. SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan will preside over the ceremony. BJP State President P S Sreedharan Pillai will also address the gathering. Pontiff of Suttur Mutt, Mysore, Shivrathri Deshikendra Mahaswami will inaugurate the spiritual convention on Tuesday. tnn
