Steps will be taken to make all accident black spots in the district safe zones.
According to officials, 57 black spots have been identified, including on National Highway (NH) 66, in the district. The identified accident-prone areas are in the Kayamkulam, Cherthala and Alappuzha sub-divisions.
Officials said an action plan would be prepared to effectively implement traffic rules. Of the identified black spots, 20 are under the Alappuzha sub-division, 21 in Cherthala and 16 in Kayamkulam. Several accident-prone areas are on the NH stretch. The police said that awareness campaigns would be intensified.
The district has witnessed a steady increase in the number of accidents recently.
