Jharkhand Congress to gherao CBI offices in Ranchi on October 29, November 2
ASRP Mukesh | TNN | Oct 27, 2018, 22:11 ISTRANCHI: Jharkhand Congress on Saturday announced to gherao CBI offices in Ranchi on October 29 and November 2 as part of its nationwide campaign to corner PM Narendra Modi led government on the ongoing controversy in the CBI, the premier investigative agency.
Addressing a press conference in Ranchi, state party president Ajoy Kumar Singh informed that the youth congress wing will gherao CBI office in Morabadi on October 29 and women wing will do so on November 2.
“It’s a matter of grave concern how NDA led government at the Centre is killing the premier agency. What is more worrying is that if you look into the kind of postings that happened in CBI post 2014 when PM Narendra Modi’s government came, you would find slew of tainted officers being given cream postings,” alleged Kumar, adding that the only reason CBI director Alok Verma was removed is because he had initiated probe into the tainted Rafale deal, which in the larger run holds the potential to destabilise Modi government. Kumar went on to reiterate party’s lines on Rafale deal.
On their stints to gherao CBI officea, Kumar said that they will also raise the issue of Srijan scam of Bihar estimated worth around Rs 2500 crores. “Modi has probably forgotten his na khaenge, na khane denge jumla. It’s a scam that broke in Bihar, but it holds significance due to its proximity to Jharkhand. Accused is still at large,” said Kumar.
“Being a former IPS, I know for CBI posting, an official has to get a clearance from the agency. Anyone facing corruption charges, won’t get clearances. But Rakesh Asthana (CBI 2), now interim director Nageshwar Rao etc are few heads whose tales of corruption isn’t any secret,” he said, who also criticised degrading law and order in Jharkhand demanding DGP D.K.Pandey be made the PRO of BJP than state chief police.
“The way he talks and behaves make one think that he is BJP agent than a cop. Culture of politicisation of bureaucracy is at its peak,” he said.
