The proposed indefinite strike called by bus operators’ organisations from November 1 has been called off.

The decision came in the wake of a discussion held between representatives of the organisations with Transport Minister A.K. Sasindran here on Saturday.

‘‘We are withdrawing the call for the strike as the Minister promised us to consider favourably the demands put forward by us,’’ said office-bearers of the Kerala State Bus Operators’ Coordination Committee.

The Minister said the Justice Ramachandran Commission would study various demands of bus operators, including increasing the bus charge.

The demands by bus operators included increase in bus charge, cancellation of all free passes, providing fuel at subsidised rate for buses as they are public utility services, and forming a transport policy to avoid competition between private and KSRTC buses.
