Rakesh Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, NLCIL, on Friday called for an integrated approach towards the thermal power sector that would help cope with the market dynamics.
Such an approach would help better understand and face transitions in the sector such as regulatory framework, pricing and changing patterns of electricity supply and demand.
Flexible technologies
Mr. Kumar was speaking as the chief guest at a two-day national seminar hosted by the public sector undertaking on the theme ‘Thermal Power Issues, Challenges and Way Forward’. He appealed to the participants to throw light on to what extent super critical and ultra-super critical technologies were available and could provide more flexibility than sub-critical plants.
Prasant Kumar Mohapatra, Director (Technical), NTPC, said meeting energy demand was not only about stepping up of generation, but also about optimum utilisation by balancing the environmental challenges. The NTPC was ready to share its expertise with NLCIL on this.
