These are the first images of the man accused of killing his partner in a hammer attack at their home.

John Barry Garner, 51, today appeared at Mold Magistrates Court accused of murdering his partner Teresa Garner with a hammer in their bathroom.

Ms Garner's body was found in the bathroom of the house on Wednesday.

She suffered severe head injuries said to be consistent with multiple hammer blows, according to a post mortem.

Garner was charged yesterday evening.

He was remanded in custody following a seven minute hearing today in which he spoke only to confirm his personal details and to say he was not very well.

He was seen limping into the court.

A formal plea hearing will be held at Mold Crown Court on November 29 but a bail determination by a crown court judge is expected to take place early next week.

Defending solicitor Craig Hutchinson indicted that he could not make a bail application on a murder charge in the magistrates’ court and his client understood the procedure and the fact that he would be kept in custody.
