Minor girl raped in UP's Azamgarh district

Representative image.VARANASI: Tension prevailed after a 6-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a youth of other community in Mehnagar area of Azamgarh district on Friday.
An FIR was lodged against the accused under section 376 (rape) of IPC, POCSO Act and SC/ST Act. A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
According to reports, the girl was taken to a lonely place and allegedly raped by the youth, who is the son of the manager of a madrassa. After raping the girl the accused is on the run. The girl was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The news spread like a wild fire and people assembled near the madrasa and staged demonstration. The police had to toil hard to convince people and maintain law and order.
Azamgarh SP (city) Kamlesh Prasad said that after medical examination the statement of the girl would be recorded. Raids are being conducted to nab the accused.
