Shah Rukh Khan will play the lead in Rakesh Sharma biopic Saare Jahan Se Achha. 

Putting speculations to rest around the Rakesh Sharma biopic, co-producer Ronnie Screwvala has confirmed that Saare Jahan Se Achha will roll from next year. Upon asking if Shah Rukh Khan is doing the film, he told indianexpress.com, “Yes”.

There has not been any official statement from the makers on the film yet. It was earlier speculated that Aamir Khan was playing the lead role in the film. Even the title was earlier rumoured to be Salute.

Talking to Indianexpress.com about the film, Screwvala said, “It (The script) has been with us for quite a long time. The film will go on floors early next year. We will make an official announcement soon.”

Bhumi Pednekar has reportedly been cast as the female lead. The film will be co-produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and directed by Mahesh Mathai.

Until last year, Aamir was supposed to lead the film and at that time Priyanka Chopra was approached to be a part of the project. Priyanka then spoke about the film and said, “I was approached for that film when Aamir was doing it. We were supposed to do in 2019. Now, I don’t know (after Aamir’s exit).”
