Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Stepping up its campaign against the Centre government over the removal of Central Bureau of Investigation Director Alok Verma, the Congress demonstrated in front of all CBI the offices across the country on Friday to press for his reinstatement and seek an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Congress leaders of Madhya Pradesh have also taken out the rally and displayed protest outside CBI office in Bhopal. Former Congress State President Suresh Pachori, national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi, MP media cell in charge Shobha Ojha, CP Shekhar and including other Congress workers, demonstrated here.

During this Priyanka Chaturvedi said that Central Government’s interference has increased in CBI. Government has tried to suppress the scandal Rafale. Congress demanded to reverse CBI director Alok Verma to his post. Later on Congress has given a memorandum to Tehsildar after the demonstration.

This is the case Congress President Rahul Gandhi says that Verma was “removed in panic” because he was going to begin a probe into the controversial Rafale deal that would have been “suicidal” for PM Modi. On this, BJP respond that the Congress chief was spreading falsehood over the issue.

Rahul Gandhi said that this action of the government is totally unethical, illegal and an insult to the Constitution. Rahul, who returned from Rajasthan tour, suddenly convened a press conference at the Congress headquarters on Sunday evening and claimed that the removal of Verma was an insult to the constitution, Chief Justice and leader of the opposition.

He said that the CBI Director is appointed by the three-member committee of Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Chief Justice of India. The Committee also has the right to remove the director.

Congress has demanded apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the entire episode along with the demand of immediate withdrawal of the order against the CBI director. However, on Thursday the CBI clarified that Alok Verma has not been removed from the rank of CBI Chief.

It is significant that the Congress had announced a protest outside the CBI offices across the country on Friday on the issue of CBI dispute.
