Taking a jibe at the Congress party, Rajnath Singh on Saturday warned that any political outfit entering into an alliance with the Congress party could get 'ditched'.
Addressing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers, Rajnath asserted that all the political parties across India were scared of the BJP. "A majority of Opposition parties are scared of the BJP's rising popularity. They are forming a huge alliance (to challenge us). But they do not have any particular agenda. They have just one aim -stopping Modi."
Criticising the parties entering into an alliance with the Congress, he said, "I want to remind the Opposition that no one can save those which are joining the Congress. Later, all the opposition parties which have joined hands with Congress will get betrayed and will be forced to start a #MeToo campaign," he added.
Rajnath's comments have come after women from all walks of lives launched the #MeToo campaign. As part of this movement, that took the entire social media by storm, several women including actresses, musicians and journalists opened up about their ordeals of facing sexual harassment.
He further stated that the prime agenda of the various political outfits was to deny Prime Minister Narendra Modi a victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He further lambasted the Congress for putting its own interests before the welfare of the country. He asserted that the BJP was the only party working towards the interests of India, saying, "BJP has worked towards implementing good governance during its tenure at the Centre."
He claimed that more youth have been joining the defence forces due to which the insurgency has dropped by 80 per cent. The urged the BJYM volunteers to work towards the socio-economic cause and predicted that India will be among the world's top three economic powers by 2030.
