Which designer will Priyanka Chopra pick for her wedding looks?

We’re popping the big question

Considering her multi-hyphenate status, you can safely expect Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ upcoming nuptials to take over your social media feed with speculation, for the foreseeable future. Over the course of the past one year, the duo made headlines almost every other day with new developments of their then-budding relationship, and almost broke Instagram with images of a beautiful (and completely unexpected) roka ceremony in Mumbai. Most recently, Chopra and Jonas were spotted scouting wedding locations in the rustic locale of Jodhpur. Even as we await word on the final wedding date, rumours are flying fast about which designer will be the chosen one for the Quantico actor’s grand wedding.

Given her track record of bringing the internet to a grinding halt with her fashion outings (her Zuhair Murad gown at Academy Awards 2016 was Google’s most-searched outfit), it stands to reason that the superstar will be choosing her bridal designer with care. With the entire roster of Indian and international designers at her fingertips, here are the ones that are most likely to make the cut.

Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

Chopra’s roka ceremony had her stepping out in a crisp canary anarkali suit with gota work by the designer duo, and she even sported one of their showstopper red saris at the big Ambani engagement last year—which was also the very first event that the actor attended with Jonas as a couple. Not one to play it safe, her unique vision of OTT elegance is sure to be catered to by the couturiers who pride themselves on their larger-than-life silhouettes and ornate embroideries.

Manish Malhotra

Chopra and Malhotra have served up countless winning looks over the years, most recently at Isha Ambani’s engagement which saw her and beau, Jonas, in couture ensembles by the designer. Malhotra understands decadent glamour like few others in the country do, and knows just how to deliver a jaw-dropping look—and possibly another prime spot on Google’s most searched list.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee

If Anushka Sharma’s all-Sabyasachi nuptials weren’t proof enough of the fact that the couturier is Bollywood’s favourite for bridal wear, maybe this will convince you—rumours say that Deepika Padukone is likely to wear her go-to designer for the big day as well. Chopra also has a relationship with Sabyasachi that goes way back, and the Baywatch actor has taken his ensembles with her to international events as well. Third time could definitely be the charm, with the couturier’s luxe creations thriving in their natural habitat—the palatial panorama of Rajasthan.

Ralph Lauren

The 34-year-old may have gone traditional with her choice of venue, but does that mean it is too late to rule out a white wedding? Given that the actor famously teamed up with Ralph Lauren for an internet-breaking trench coat-gown at the Met Gala 2017, it’s clear that she knows exactly where to look to find a winning number for her big day—in case she chooses to walk down the aisle instead of to the mandap.

Ralph & Russo

They have history together, of the red carpet dominance kind. Chopra followed up her viral Zuhair Murad outing at the Academy Awards 2016 with a structured geometric number the next year from British faves, Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo. The designer duo know their way around frothy couture concoctions, and make a no-brainer choice for a highly-touted celebrity shindig.

Dior

From Miranda Kerr to Chiara Ferragni, the couture house has dressed some of the most iconic brides, and Chopra’s name would be a fitting addition to the club—especially considering the waves that they made together when she wore a princess-perfect sequinned number to her close friend Meghan Markle’s royal wedding reception.
