Vadodara: Chief minister Vijay Rupani slammed Congress while flagging off Ekta Yatra from Chhani area of the city on Friday. Rupani said the Congress had tried to push Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the sidelines.

Rupani said if the affair of Jammu & Kashmir had been handled by Patel, the country would not have faced difficult times of terrorism and unrest which it is witnessing now. Rupani added that if Patel had not been there, visas would have been needed to visit Hyderabad and Junagadh.

Rupani said the Statue of Unity was the best tribute to the Iron Man of India. Rupani called on those present at the event to visit Kevadiya Colony and see the statue and pay tributes to Sardar Patel.

According to Rupani, the statue was also a symbol of national unity. He said the Ekta Yatra had taken the message of Sardar to 5,000 villages.
