Justin Bieber, or a man who could be the singer's twin, has sparked a debate about the proper way to eat a burrito after he was pictured eating it sideways.

A 'controversial' picture surfaced on Thursday with someone who appears to be the 24-year-old Canadian singer sitting on a park bench while eating a burrito.

But the way Justin was pictured eating the food item has caused outrage. He decided to eat the burrito horizontally by taking a bite right in the middle instead of start on either end of the food.

There were a number of people in agreement that burritos should only be eaten from end to end, not through the middle.

'Imagine you meet someone and find out they eat burritos like a harmonica,' a Twitter user joked online once she saw the picture.

Another person wrote: 'How long can @justinbieber remain silent about whether he is or is not the person who defiled that poor burrito.'

Chipotle hilariously joined the debate after some inquired if Justin was eating a burrito from the fast food chain.

'We don't have a problem with this,' the company wrote. But some fans were not happy with this response.

'Well you really should,' one woman responded to Chipotle. 'Society needs rules to function. This isn't OK.'

When asked by Chipotle what rules she thinks should be put in place, the woman responded: 'Rule #1 - if you are going to eat a burrito, start at one of the ends. Rule #2 - if you are not going to start at one of the ends, get a bowl.'

Justin is not the first celebrity to spark controversy over eating certain food items.

Kylie Jenner, 21, caused a stir on Snapchat earlier this year when she admitted she never eats cereal with milk. Her 39-year-old sister, Kourtney Kardashian, also sparked a debate after she revealed she eats Reese's peanut butter cups by first biting off the chocolate before consuming the middle.

Another celeb to create a food debate is Chrissy Teigen, 32, who prefers to just lick the seasoning off chips instead of eating them.

Justin has yet to respond to his bizarre technique for eating the burrito after the picture went viral yesterday.
