Almost like a reverse lay-by, shoppers pay the balance over four equal installments, due every two weeks - all with no interest or fees.
'We are so excited to introduce Afterpay into our stores to give our customers more payment options. We are glad to hear that that Afterpay will make Christmas shopping enjoyable,' a Target spokesperson said on Facebook.
Taking to the company's page, shoppers are expressing their excitement over the new in-store paying option.
'Our poor bank accounts. That said though, this will be amazing for Xmas shopping,' one person said.
Another joked: 'Oh awesome. Is it dangerous my office is above the target building? I'm gonna be poor.'
One posted: 'Will definitely help out with back to school next year as well.'

And another excited customer praised the retailer for offering a shopping experience like no other.
'Thank you! You getting Afterpay in stores makes the shopping experience so much easier. Now, you can Afterpay, while shopping in the stores,' she said.
'You get the beautiful joy of seeing your items, touching them, trying them and knowing what you are getting, gaining that experience you simply can't get sitting at home. I love being about to get out there, see what I am getting and socialise with the locals as well.
'Thank you for giving me this opportunity and experience with Afterpay in-store! You allowed me to enjoy my Christmas shopping.'
The latest news comes just weeks after Kmart rolled out Afterpay for its online store.
