Man held for series of thefts in Jamnagar

Rajkot: A man involved in seven thefts was arrested from Bus Stand Road in Jamnagar on Friday.

“We arrested Jitu Shekha (29), a resident of Naranpar locality in Jamnagar, on the basis of a tip-off about him having come to the city to sell off his stolen booty,” said Jamnagar local crime branch sub-inspector K K Gohel.


Police said that during interrogation, Shekha confessed to having stolen two motorcycles, having committed house break-ins in three houses at Premchand Colony, Nanakpuri and Jholi Bungalows localities of Jamnagar, and having committed theft in a cellphone shop.


“We have recovered gold and silver jewellery, cash, an LCD TV, two cellphones and two bikes, all worth Rs 8.17 lakh, from Shekha,” added Gohel.
