Too many bees see tram stop shut in Melbourne's north
Bees have disrupted trams along route 86 in Melbourne's north.
Trams are bypassing Stop 26 in Northcote due to the bees congregating at Walker Street.
At this stage, it is not clear if the problematic bees are swarming, or if they were from a nearby hive.
Passengers have been advised to avoid the stop and walk – calmly – to nearby Stop 27 on Westgarth Street.
"The stop has been closed for the safety of passengers," a Yarra Trams spokeswoman said.
"Passengers are being allowed off at either the stop before, or the stop after."
Melbourne's E-class trams, which service route 86 through Northcote, weigh in at about 62 tonnes.
Despite this, the bees clearly have right of way.
