Singh then took his wife to Harsha Hospital in Kukatpally for check-up on October 23. “After examining Rani, doctor Neetha of Harsha Hospital gave the delivery date as October 25 and Rani returned home,” Kukatpally SI J Narayan Singh said. However, during the wee hours of Thursday, Rani developed labour pain and the family rushed her to Harsha Hospital. “The duty nurses did a general check-up and as per the doctor’s advice, prepared Rani for delivery by giving her enema. Rani went to the bathroom, where she noticed that the baby’s foot had come out. Rani also started bleeding. Dr Neetha, who was not present in the hospital, arrived at 6am and delivered a stillborn baby. The family alleged that the baby died due to the negligence of Dr Neetha and nurses Martha and Pushpa,” the SI added.
Police registered a case of negligence under Section 304-A of the IPC against the hospital staff and sent the baby’s body for post-mortem.
