A man who mowed down his relative with a car and beat him to death with a brick because he thought he was having an affair with his wife has been cleared of murder.
James Va'A Tui deliberately ran down Talla Faavala, 54, and repeatedly hit him with a brick in Shavely, Sydney's west, in July 2016.
Faavala, who was working on his fence outside his home and didn't see the car coming, died in hospital six days later from catastrophic head injuries.

On Thursday, a judge at the Supreme Court ruled Va'A Tui was mentally ill and said he could not be held 'morally responsible' for the crime, Seven News reported.
Va'A Tui was arrested ten minutes after the violent incident and admitted to police he deliberately struck the victim.
He believed Faavala was sleeping with his wife, sister and daughter - but he wasn't.
After he was cuffed by police Va'A Tui told an officer he cracked the victims head with a brick ten times.
The officer asked why he was laughing and Va'A Tui responded: 'Because I'm happy,' before adding: 'Because I done someone'.
Ten hours after the attack, Va'A Tui told investigators he hit Faavala all around his head.

'I pick up brick and I throw it at him and hit the brick at his head,' he said.
It is understood Va'A Tui's behaviour was a result of untreated schizophrenia.
He continues to struggle with his mental health and even thought his inmates could read his mind while incarcerated.
Va'A Tui will remain in psychiatric care until he can prove he is at no risk to society.
