The phone, that was initially expected to be seen on October 15, will be the first Xiaomi phone to feature a nealr full-screen display, as well as a retractable camera module that exhibits the phone’s front cameras. Also, this phone has been promoted with a retractable module, which not only activates the selfie cameras, but also allows 3D facial recognition, as per the rumours. The phone is expected to run a new processor, with leaks indicating that it could be the Snapdragon 855/8150 SoC. Since Qualcomm has not officially announced the name of the chipset, one can only know for sure from the launch event itself. Also, the leaked images of the phone do not show any fingerprint scanner, suggesting that Xiaomi could have introduced a fingeprint sensor under the display.
Also, the phone is expected to offer 5G connectivity support, that has been confirmed by Xiaomi. While Mi Mix 3 should come with an 8GB RAM base variant, the phone will also offer a 10GB RAM option, another feature that has been officially verified. Besides this, the phone will offer a dual rear camera configuration with 20MP+16MP cameras, which will come with enhancements for the low light mode.
The front camera is expected to sport a 20MP sensor, while the retractable camera has been rumoured to offer facial recognition through additional sensors. A recent leak had priced the 8GB RAM variant at 3700 yuan (Rs 39,050 approx.), which can only be confirmed from the launch event.
