Five things to watch out for Oct 26

The Supreme Court will hear the plea of ousted CBI Director Alok Verma challenging the Centre's decision to divest him of powers and send him on leave in view of the internal feud between him and Special Director Rakesh Asthana.  The CBI chief has also assailed the decision of the government by which Joint Director M Nageshwar Rao has been given charge as head of the probe agency.

The Congress will hold protests outside all CBI offices across the country on Friday, demanding reinstatement of its ousted director Alok Verma and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “destroying the image of the premier investigating agency“.  Senior Congress leaders will participate in the protests outside the CBI headquarters in the national capital, while state leaders will lead the demonstrations in their regions.

The BSE will introduce futures contracts in Oman Crude Oil in its newly launched commodity derivatives segment. The exchange had marked its entry into the commodity derivatives segment with gold and silver contracts on October 1. It will also introduce weekly futures and options contracts in Sensex 50 index.

The I-League kicks off today with a lot of promise following a fantastic previous season and a fair amount of buzz due to Real Kashmir’s debut in the top division. The All India Football Federation’s development side Indian Arrows and Chennai City FC face each other in the opening match at the Nehru Stadium in Coimbatore.  Eleven clubs from 10 states will vie for top honours in the league which will continue for over six months.

The BCCI selection committee will name the squad for the six T20s against West Indies and Australia (three home and three away) in Pune. It will be interesting to see if India captain Virat Kohli, whose workload management has been paramount for the selectors, will play the T20 Internationals against the West Indies.
