Youth shot at outside Patna private hostel

Sachivalaya DSP Rajesh Singh Prabhakar said the incident took place around 2pm when Ritwik Prajapati came out of a three-storey private hostel. A first-year graduation student of A N College, he received a gunshot injury in his abdomen.
"We have not been able to record the youth's statement as he has not regained consciousness though doctors have performed a surgery on him at a private hospital at Pataliputra," the DSP told TOI in the evening.
Neighbours and hostel inmates have told police that Ritwik was living in Patna for at least last three years. "He is said to have several close friends, including some antisocial elements," the DSP said, quoting the neighbours and hostel inmates.
Meanwhile, police sources said a girl was also at the spot when Ritwik was shot at. "We will probe if it was a case of love triangle," another police officer said.
Ritwik's father Gopal Prasad is a trader. The family members, who live at Oriental Chowk in Sitamarhi, have reached Patna.
